Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing Manual

Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing Manual

Now I find Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing Manual Yes, I think that interesting .

Customer Shopping BuZZ

It is a great book5
I can’t believe how much I have learned in the past few days just by reading this book. I am already doing some websites and as continue reading I discover more each day. It is a fantastic book. By the way, i went to NYU and the professor was using in class all the excercises from this book. I couldn’t belive I paid 500 dollars to school when I could have done it on my own. So, get this book now!

A HUGE help!5
Yes, this is a huge volume – as are most software “how-to” and other reference books – but this is one you’ll definitely want to tackle if you’re interested in building your skills with Dreamweaver CS3. To say there’s a ton of good information goes without saying. Any good manual of this type can dish out the factoids, charts and examples in mass quantities, and “The Missing Manual” for Dreamweaver is no exception. To their credit, the authors still manage to present all that information with a good amount of humor and enough real-world examples to make it easy to digest and understand.

Especially useful are the “hands-on” projects and lessons contained in each chapter. You get a taste of topics such as text formatting, page layout, creating / modifying CSS rules and lots, lots more. Each lesson is simple and direct – click here, type this, etc. Step by step. Many of the lessons build on each other, so you can see a complete web page come together with more and more features and complexity. All of the lesson and example files are downloadable from the book’s online companion site, so there’s no need to find (and store and protect) a CD that might have been included in the book. The site also gives updated information and provides links to more help… very useful.

You probably won’t read this book all at once – not unless you’re an absolute newcomer to web design and Dreamweaver. If that’s the case, you can work through all of the lessons, and come away with a very good understanding of the program’s main functions and features. The discussion (and lessons) on CSS alone are well worth the read. Even though the authors say this book is not intended to provide a complete reference for CSS, the material presented greatly increased my knowledge and confidence in using this particularly useful bit of web-design magic.

In short: a very useful, very reader-friendly book that can help any new- to moderately-skilled Dreamweaver user. Advanced users probably know all this stuff already, but for the rest of us, “The Missing Manual” is a great addition to a personal software reference library. Highly recommended.

Bostitch F21PL nailer4
I bought this nailer specifically to use the Hurriquake nails on earthquake reinforcement projects. Its been a pleasure to use and have had only a couple of misfeed nails. The plastic debris from the nail clips does make a mess – wearing good eye protection is a must. It is surprisingly light for it’s size, and has excellent power.

Excellant Tool5
This is a great nail gun if your looking to install metal connectors and do normal framing work. Its very easy to switch from the standard nail to the metal connector nails, its just a matter of switching the nose piece out with a push of a button. I would highly reccomend this nailer for anyone who is installing a lot of metal connectors, it cuts the connector installation time down by at least 50%.

Exceded My Expectations5
I own 7 other nail guns, and the Bostich F21PL was a great addition to my collection. The Gun’s light weight made it easy to use over a long day, and because it is easy to control, I was able to get into tight angles. The rubber foot and the rafter hook were greatly appreciated. The fact that it is multi-purpose makes this an extra value that you don’t usually find in today’s world of corporate greed.

You’re not alone.

At any given moment, somewhere in the world someone struggles with the same software design problems you have. You know you don’t want to reinvent the wheel (or worse, a flat tire), so you look to Design Patterns–the lessons learned by those who’ve faced the same problems. With Design Patterns, you get to take advantage of the best practices and experience of others, so that you can spend your time on…something else. Something more challenging. Something more complex. Something more fun.

You want to learn about the patterns that matter–why to use them, when to use them, how to use them (and when NOT to use them). But you don’t just want to see how patterns look in a book, you want to know how they look “in the wild”. In their native environment. In other words, in real world applications. You also want to learn how patterns are used in the Java API, and how to exploit Java’s built-in pattern support in your own code.

You want to learn the real OO design principles and why everything your boss told you about inheritance might be wrong (and what to do instead). You want to learn how those principles will help the next time you’re up a creek without a design pattern.

Most importantly, you want to learn the “secret language” of Design Patterns so that you can hold your own with your co-worker (and impress cocktail party guests) when he casually mentions his stunningly clever use of Command, Facade, Proxy, and Factory in between sips of a martini. You’ll easily counter with your deep understanding of why Singleton isn’t as simple as it sounds, how the Factory is so often misunderstood, or on the real relationship between Decorator, Facade and Adapter.

With Head First Design Patterns, you’ll avoid the embarrassment of thinking Decorator is something from the “Trading Spaces” show. Best of all, in a way that won’t put you to sleep! We think your time is too important (and too short) to spend it struggling with academic texts.

If you’ve read a Head First book, you know what to expect–a visually rich format designed for the way your brain works. Using the latest research in neurobiology, cognitive science, and learning theory, Head First Design Patterns will load patterns into your brain in a way that sticks. In a way that lets you put them to work immediately. In a way that makes you better at solving software design problems, and better at speaking the language of patterns with others on your team.

Good little nailer5
We bought this for constructing a pole building, and it has been a good investment. Takes most of the work out of driving 6-inch ringshank nails, and saves a lot of swinging on the smaller ones as well. Definitely worth the money.

palm sledgehammer4
I was surprised the power this nailer has,it will drive any nail you put in it. I,am sorry I didn,t buy it sooner.I would prefer a velcro strap for your hand, instead of the leather strap it has too hard to get into, and that is the reason it got 4 stars. The tool it self is A-ok,buy it

Great power, weak magnet4
I bought this nailer and put in two dozen or so Joist hangers and did a little blocking. It is quite large and massive which gives it a good solid feel and dampens the vibration a bit. It has power, and with three tips plenty of versatility(anyone use those other tips?). There is an extra magnet in the repair kit bag. Here’s the problem: The magnet is too weak. Reaching around a joist with a 16d the nails can fall out. Worse, because the nails are so poorly secured, it is difficult to start them straight when you are not going into hardware. Strangely, nails hold great to the outside of the tip. Bottom line — If you just want to blast n10s and 16ds into joist hangers, this guy has power and speed to spare. For bare wood, it’s hard to get em started straight.

So I bought the Ridgid. The Ridgid is lighter and has a better magnet. I don’t think it is as solid and powerful as the bostitch, but at least I can place nails straight and without them falling out. Love ya Bostitch, but you need a better magnetic nose.

punch out dream5
Good little compressor, have had it for 2 years now, no problems with heavy usage, can’t beat it for punch out work for trim and cabinets. I don’t shoot alot of brads as most of my work is with prefinished material, (I.E. very few fastners showing). So this baby stays at the saw stand and use it for popping miters together with 23 ga pinners, cleats and backing blocks its size, weight and decibels are lovely after years of lugging pancakes and double hotdogs around, and I’m not talking about lunch.

Great Little Compressor5
My larger compressor is a little heavy for smaller jobs, so I wanted to pick up a smaller compressor for finishing the trim work on our recent kitchen remodel. I had bought a small, no name compressor from costco with a too good to be true price of $60. Said it would fill tires and run brad nailers. Unfortunately, the start up pressure was too low – 70lbs, so when the tank was drawn down my brads and pin nails did not seat fully. Not good. Took it back and started to think about other options.

My hardwood flooring contractor had used the Senco PC1010 and told me it did a great job for running their Senco finished nailer. I’ve been a fan of Senco products for some time and decided to look for one locally which ran about $219. Bought it through Amazon for about half. It has worked flawlessly, runs all my nail guns. This is a light to medium duty, light weight compressor that is perfect for smaller finishing jobs. Awesome.

Great punch in a small package5
I needed a lightweight workhorse for airbrushing applications. This is by far the best unit I’ve worked with. It’s very compact, light weight and quiet. I run an airbrush at about 50psi and have not had any issues with this little dynamo.

Customer Shopping BuZZ

Expect high quality with this item. Makita has a name for a reason 4
I have owned this tool for about three years now and am quite happy with the sound level, size and performance. As with anything there are trade-offs with it’s compact size and air capacity. I do allot of woodworking so this is my stapler and brad nail partner.
It cycles less than you would think, but if you have to clean off shelving or a project where you just spray continously you’ll see that the small tank can’t keep up too well. But as I said, I can put this in the truck or carry it into a home and most of all it’s QUIET. I read all of these specs and when the manufacturer says it operates at a certain decibel level, it better not sound like a jet engine!
Bottom line, I like Makita and I like this compressor.

No shipping problems, But I live in Ohio which is close to the Kentucky warehouse.

p.s.
I don’t grade 5 stars on too much stuff. This is a close 5

Good unit, service issue3
Most likely my my bad, as the air intake filter was probably thrown out with the box. When I called service to order another, it was $23.32, which seemed excessive to me. Then, to make matters worse, I only received the foam to go in the filter, not the filter itself. (I explicitly ordered the correct part number from their service sheet, but the guy acted as if it was my fault). He is now sending the cannister no charge (other than the $23.32 already paid.)

Unit seems fine, but rather heavy as many have reported. Hopefully, it will last.

It is a nice compresssor but…4
I like MAkitta as a brand name. I have tried different Makitta tools and I never had a problem . I have no problem with this air compressor also but I think I was wrong about the tank size. 2.6 is nothing if you want to use this compressor for cleaning or painting jobs. it dores not give you enough air. The air comes out strong and to the point but not enough to last with the same force for more than five minutes then it gets weaker and weaker!
The compressor has almost no noise. Quite, stable, well built. Remember to buy all the accessories to enjoy it cos’ the comp comes with nothing!
Also remember to attatch the metal part(filter) to the side of the compressor. Nothing was mentioned in the manual about the filter or how to attach it to the comp. Good luck.
