Great drive, but defrag thoroughly and often
I’ve owned this drive for about five months at this writing, and use it to store all my video and music files (both mp3 and wav). And I still have 400GB of free space!

Its USB 2.0 interface is fast enough for video playback in a RAID 0 configuration (since it’s actually two 1TB drives it can also be set RAID 1 to automatically back up everything you put on it).

It’s a fairly small and very attractive package that doesn’t get overly warm; if it has cooling fans inside I haven’t heard them running yet. I much prefer its keyhole-shaped fluorescent-looking indicator light to the blinking bull’s eye I’ve seen on older MyBook drives. Its up-and-down motion is actually kind of soothing.

Opening the box to replace a drive, if necessary, doesn’t look too difficult if you’re so inclined. It’s quiet but not totally silent — there’s a soft clattering sound when it’s working but I don’t find it annoying and it’s totally masked by movie audio or music.

One bit of advice, do NOT assume that Microsoft Vista’s automatic “Defrag Lite” will do a good job on a drive this huge. I started to experience playback problems with recorded video and discovered that the drive was severely fragmented, even with Vista set to defrag it once a week. There’s no easy way to analyze the drive for fragmentation with Vista defrag’s dumbed-down user interface. And it would be great if WD included a defrag utility in its Drive Manager or Diagnostics Tool — it doesn’t. But there’s freeware out there (Auslogics or JKDefrag) that will do a thorough job and, even better, actually show you what it’s doing. So defrag this drive thoroughly and often, especially if you copy, move, delete and convert a lot of large video files.

3 year warranty only
Most important thing first: some may see this as a USB2-only version of the My Book Studio II edition (please see my review there). But in this light, this one only has a 3 year warranty whereas the latter is a 5 year.

Otherwise, I note that these physically appears to identical units except for the interfaces other than USB2. However, the numbers I’ve seen suggest that there is no significant speed advantage in SATA over USB2 in practice. So in the end, the decision should be based mostly on the warranty.

Good realiable product so far
I purchased this for a travel to asia recently. I stored a bunch of digital pictures and media for the trip. It worked as expected and is of great value.

Works Great!
Bought this as an off-site back-up hard drive in case of hurricane, flood, or other terrible calamity. Have a iMac so needless to say the back-up process is easy with the built-in Time Machine function. Just hook up the hard drive, designate it as the back-up device, do the back-up, disconnect and put in my briefcase to take to work in a safe place. Worth the price to have piece of mind that in the event of a catastrophe, I can purchase a brand new iMac and then replicate all that I had on my old computer onto the new! This product works as advertised, no problems.

review of the printable dual layer blank dvd
I bought the Verbatim printable dual layer dvds recently and have used 7 so far. So far so good no problems and they print well. After I have used up the whole box I will update this review, but until then its worked well. No issues… 4 stars since I need to wait til I use up the whole box. Cheers..

Verbatim quality always amazes.
These discs are similar to the Verbatim white inkjet printable DVD-R and DVD+R 4.7GB discs I have been using for years. These 8.5GB discs are nice, although a little bit expensive by comparison. Granted the 20Pk spindle is a very good deal compared to most DL discs on the market. The quality is superb and I have not experienced any mis-burns or duds in this package using 3 different DVD burners. I use an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 all-in-one to print on these with photo-quality results every time.

If you are wondering what DL discs are good for, I primarily use them for video discs I author from home movie tapes or original video material I shoot when the video is 60 minutes or longer. The extra capacity of these discs allows me to use the highest bitrate possible for DVD playback for over 2 hours of video. If using standard 4.7GB discs, long videos need to be recorded at a lower quality bitrate.

IMHO I would not spend the extra money on DL discs for data backup tasks. 4.7 GB discs cost far less per Gigabyte.

I would give the product 5 stars but I have the sneaking suspicion that all DL discs are intentionally marked up to dissuade piracy of commercial DVD discs which are mostly published in the DL format. 4 stars is the verdict due to being overpriced. For a direct comparison to other DL media consider this a 5-star review. Verbatim is in a class of their own when it comes to blank media.

Great discs
This is the only Dual Layer disc that my duplication tower will use. I tried Ritek before and had a miserable failure rate but these Verbatims work like a charm, only had 1 disc fail verification out of 200 burned.

Incredible!!!!
I used the Baby Plus system and am so amazed by what its done. Every single thing your site claims that this product does, is dead on! I was in labor for over 12 hours and ended up having an emergency cesarean. My baby girl had to endure all of this stress in the womb and yet once she was born she was bright eyed, lifted her head, pulled the nurses stethoscope and was unbelievably alert. The nurses were amazed by her, so much so they actually sent other nurses in to see her. At a day old she was laying on my chest and started inching her way up my chest towards my neck and nuzzled herself there. I was astonished as was every visitor who saw her. The child barely ever has cried, she is amazingly capable of coping with any change that I put her through. For example, switching from breast to bottle was no problem at all – switching from sleeping in the bassinet next to me to the crib in her own room – not one hiccup with that either, eating solids was also quite easy. She simply adapts to change very well. Every person I meet and even family and friends who have children of their own cannot believe how alert and responsive she is. You can’t even imagine how many times I have had people completely shocked when I tell them how old she is because they expect her to be older because of the way she is.

Another thing I hear from family, friends and strangers alike is that they’ve never seen a baby look at them with such concentration – like she doesn’t have that blank look about her that most infants have. She truly interacts with you, smiling back, she will crawl to you if you call her name, she hears us call our dogs name and she immediately looks out for her, she vocalizes back to you when you talk to her, she’s simply amazing. I’m actually switching her to the older kids playgroup because she is just that far ahead of reaching milestones as the other kids her age, the teacher agreed completely with me that she’s definitely ready.

As far as her milestones go, at about 6 weeks she started rolling over. She had complete head and neck control at 2 months. At 4 months she started “soldier crawling” as we called it and was capable of sitting perfectly fine at 5 months and by 5 1/2 months she started crawling. A week before she turned 6 months she started pulling herself up on things and can now stand while holding onto something and has started to walk alongside the couch as she holds onto it. She’s known her name now for a good month and a half as well (she turned 6 months on Oct. 24, 2008). As I mentioned before, I take her to a playgroup with babies all her age and she is by far the most alert of all of them, most social and the only one that crawl and stand and sit perfectly still. Most of the other babies are just learning to sit or mastering rolling over. I hear of the troubles the moms have with none stop crying and reluctant ness to bottles and so on and I bless the day I found out about Baby Plus. My husband and I are 100% convinced that she is the way she is because of Baby Plus. At her last Doctors visit the Pediatrician was even shocked at all the milestones she has already conquered. In our doctors words “her motor skills, both large and small are at that of a 10 month baby’s level.” This is the most amazing thing I have ever had the pleasure of using and will definitely be using it on any future babies we have.

Without any hesitation I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who is having a baby. I’ve included a picture of my little girl Gabriela Maria – this is how she always is, happy, super healthy and alert. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Babies first learning session
This is our first child it’s hard to actually determine how much success this product has placed on our baby due to not knowing the outcome yet since our child is not yet born. This product is a bit on the loud side, but we have learned to deal with it and use Babyplus when it will not distract us. The only other concern, the orginal strap that comes with the Babyplus product is extremely small (size of strap was not available when ordered)for a pregnant woman and it would be helpful if there was different sizes available for woman of all different sizes. We found out the hard way after receiving the product I had to go back and re-order the comfort strap and wait for it to arrive prior before we could get started using this product. Other than these concerns time will tell how well this product works. I would recommend trying this product though, I feel that every child in this world deserves only the best from the very start of life.

Not sure if it works….
I bought this for my second pregnancy and used it diligently twice a day from week 21 till delivery at week 38.5. I expected to have an alert and a “seldom cries” baby but to my shock she just kept crying and crying. Right from the moment she was born she cried. But boy was it loud! She cried all the way till we reached my ward. Her elder sister was definitely not like that. She was the one who was like the typical babyplus baby, crying very little at birth and showing sparks of geniuses as a baby. This second daughter of mine was very loud in contrast. However, she did reach her milestones slightly earlier than her elder sister. She slept through the night when she was just 6 weeks old but so did her sister! She is coming to two now and I am still trying to see how babyplus has affected her in a positive manner. She can count to ten since she was 16 months but isn’t that what all normal babies can do? Hmmm…

I like this seat, but agree with other reviews that it doesn’t have much padding. It works, is safe, and my son loves the cup holders.

Comfortable, attractive, and safe
My daughter picked this booster seat out because of its color. However, I did some research and found Graco boosters are rated as very safe. So we both love it. Two drink holders, attractive floral pattern and comfortable seat make her happy, while I enjoy knowing she is riding in a seat that is safe.

Love This Booster!
I’m the Grandma of a very small 7-year old. My biggest concern was to find a booster whose seat belt would fit him. This one was perfect, without adjustment.

Awesome car seat
So far this car seat has been easy to use and my daughter rides in it very well. It fits nicely in our vehicle and we love the color.

Too Big and not comfortable
Do yourself a favor and get the Britax Marathon instead. The Evenflo is big, bulky, heavy and apparently not comfortable for my 9 month old. He could not fall asleep in it, His head would always fall forward. I bought the Britax Marathon for our second car and love it. Considering donating/selling the Evenflo and getting another Marathon. The marathon is much lighter, very easy to get my baby in/out with the straps and he falls asleep, head looks comfy!

Love this car seat!!!
After combing over reviews for days and looking at car seats in stores….I came to the realization that we would be unable to purchase the Britax model because of price. Then I discovered this car seat is rated as safe if not more than the Britax at a third of the cost. This car seat is very big and I would not buy it to move car to car, it would be to difficult. However the size just makes her more comforable and me feel safer about the seat. The options of moving the shoulder harness without re-threading it and adjusting the tightness with the knob is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I highly reccommend this car seat and would never have another one again.

Best car seat buy…Highly recommended!
With so many car seats out there I wasn’t sure what to buy. I tediously went through every car seat for sale through Amazon and painstakenly read through ever review.

I’m glad I bought this car seat. My baby is just under 4 months and I felt that she was getting to be too big for the infant carrier I had. And I had to try something new because a simple short trip turned into a cry-fest every single time!

My baby went from always crying to being completely calm and even sleeping in the car on our trips! It fits well in the backseat of a BMW 5-series and a Mercedes E-class. I like the suede feel of the fabric as well as the fun colors of the Jessica print I picked out. It’s very easy to install and it’s a safe, sturdy car set.

If you are balking at the price, get this anyway. It will last for several years to come and you can’t put a price on safety as well as a quiet, happy baby on short and long car trips.

Car Seat
This product needed a little help to install from an experienced person who has installed a car seat. The item was very appropriate and fit nicely in our car not taking up to much space. Adjusting the shoulder straps was fairly easy.

Great car seat, but not perfect
My daughter grew out of her first car seat. After reading rave reviews about this one, we chose it in a heartbeat. The chair itself is perfect. She is comfortable in it and if fits well in my car. My only complaints are about the straps. They twist around very easily. You have to make sure they are untwisted before attempting to put them on your child. Second, the straps are very hard to tighten. You have to use all of your might to get them tighten up. I’m talking pulling like you pulling tug o’ war with the car seat. Third, the release button is extremely hard to push. You have to use both thumbs to push the button down and even then it’s still hard to push. But other all, I feel like she is very secure in that seat and she is comfortable in it. I just wish the straps weren’t so hard to pull.

Excellent Car Seat! Must have!
All of my friends were right when they told me this is the best convertible seat on the market! You can’t go wrong! My son loves his new car seat and it has the highest safety ratings! If you look around, you can get great deals when they have sales, usually in the fall and spring! They retail $280 and I got mine for $225 on Amazon!

Great car seat
This car seat is wonderful. I have two of them. One for each of my children. It is very easy to use and very safe. Since I already had one for my oldest and loved it, it was an easy choice to buy one for my second.
