Rodrick sucks!
This is the second book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Our “hero” Gregory Heffley, is a year older, but no wiser or more mature. The diary format continues, although Greg would prefer the term “journal”. A lot of really funny things happen in this book. If you’re a kid, or just a kid at heart, you should really enjoy this book.

Have not read this book but…….
I admit to having never read this book, or any of the others in the series, but by three nephews, third, fourth and fifth graders love them and read them constantly. I figure if the kids like them, then they, the books are doing their job. Kids who read have such an advantage over kids that do not. So….despite my lack of reading participation in this series, I have to recommend them.

My Sides Hurt!
From laughing so hard! I am an adult and woman and love this book. A boy or girl from middle school on up can relate to this book about American life. The jokes are often laugh out loud funny and you end up bothering people trying to show someone the latest cartoon or tell the most recent joke. Just fantastic and it’s true, reluctant male readers aren’t so reluctant anymore!

FITS LIKE A GLOVE
This case is perfect for the Canon Powershot A590IS…It closes well and stays shut, its light weight and i can carry extra batteries and flash card without noticing. You wont go wrong with this case…..

Needs a clip
I like this case. It’s durable and the pocket holds spare batteries. The only problem I have is the belt loop. It’s such a pain to use the belt loop and I should have gotten a case with a clip. Granted the belt loop works well because once on it cannot come off until you remove your belt again. Think I will try to find a large clip so that I can just clip it on when I don’t want to carry it. Most of the time I put the camera and the case in a jacket pocket or in my pants pocket if I need my hands free. A neck strap could come in handy also.

Overall it’s a good simple case but if you get the optional lenses this case would be too small.

Great
This case protects my camera and the little zipper pocket in front holds two extra set of batteries and an extra memory card securely. Still can fit in purse and keep things organized.

Don’t touch the cheese.
I read this book in one sitting today. It is “a novel in cartoons”, it says on the cover. More specifically, it is the fictional diary of a middle school boy, with drawings. It is very funny. Several times I laughed out loud while reading it. If you want to find out of this book would appeal to you, search for the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” website and check out some of the diary entries.

A Side Spitter!
This is just the funniest book ever! I was laughing so hard my sides hurt! I am an adult who teaches middle school children and I couldn’t have found this book any funnier than if I was 12 years old. Poor Greg with brothers like Rodrick and Manny and friends like Rowley, I’m not sure how he survives. Surrounded in school by a bunch of morons and not an intelligent face in sight. How had he ever gotten so far? You’ve gotta love this book. I read it during silent reading and all the kids were gathered around me as I showed them the jokes. After I put the book down, everyone else wanted to borrow it.

In this funny graphic novel by Jeff Kinney about a “wimpy” kid, that I wouldn’t call exactly wimpy, Gregory Heffly goes to a pretty much normal middle school with one very abnormal friend, Rowley. Greg thinks that he will be rich and famous when he gets older. “If you ask me, I think that middle school is just a bad idea” he says.
It is kind of like a mildly tragic story to Greg and not-so tragic in others, but it is always very funny! In one part there is the cheese, which Greg guesses just fell out of somebody’s sandwich onto a basketball court. It has probably been there for a year or so until somebody touched it!
The middle school is basically a normal middle school wimps haven’t hit their growth spurt yet and giants who shave, and morons, all in one school and often one classroom in Gregory’s middle school.
Gregory Heffly continues his amazingly funny saga in other books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules, Diary of a Wimpy kid: The Last Straw; and others coming soon!
I would recommend this book to people that like humorous fiction. Now here is why I think that Greg is not exactly wimpy: I think he is not exactly wimpy because he cares about his image, he writes in a journal NOT a diary, although I still think he is quite wimpy, as Greg thinks he is around 52nd or 53rd most popular, Greg guessed that his friend Rowley is around 150th.

We got our Baggu as a gift last year for Xmas. I love it! I love the little pouch it comes in, because it keeps the bag tidy in my purse. We are wanting to get more to give as gifts ourselves this year.

This is the only way to buy them
I purchased a 6 pack, and this family pack. The 6 pack has those RIDICULOUS individual carrying cases. The family pack has a larger tote that they all fit in (plus lots more). The individual cases went directly to the garbage. I’ve yet to see a reviewer that liked them. Talk about a waste of resources!! But this setup is great!

Many stores are giving back 5 cents per bag. While no big deal, it’s like a neat little bonus for doing the right thing. And my house is no longer knee deep in bags.

OOH-LA-LA! I had to have these trendy shopping bags!
My children used to giggle when they saw older women walking around the malls, carrying those little black mesh shopping bags; they were like caricatures of funny seniors depicted in so many cartoons. Even though I could see the convenience and practicality of those bags, I admit to a few chuckles myself. But I thought they were cute little old ladies, rather endearing, in fact.

As the years passed and styles changed, more and more people started carrying their own shopping bags, especially for fruits and veggies at Farmer’s Markets. I never wanted one until I received some postcards from my friends vacationing in Paris, France: The cards pictured these charming outdoor cafes, fairs, and markets, with every mademoiselle in sight carrying colorful shopping bags with fresh vegetables and fruit peeking out the top … topped by slender loaves of French bread. Suddenly those bags were tres chic!

Ooh-la-la! I had to have one … or more!

Like a lot of thoughts, that one got relegated to the back of my mind where it sat for several years–until I saw these bags–BAGGU Neutrals Reusable Shopping Tote – 3-Pack–on Amazon!

Deja vu …

Okay, now that the notion turned into an obsession, I learned that the shopping bags are sold in two-, three- and six-packs, and that’s when my dilemma began. Since I like my garments and accessories to be color-coordinated, I needed at least one black one and one tan one (the basics) but I also WANTED a colorful one. OMG, the colors were so “Gay Paree,” they were hard to choose from. The basic colors were easy because they had a 3-pack of neutrals (which is this one pictured at top of page). But out of the vast selection of colorful ones, I narrowed it down to blue, lime green, shocking pink, yellow or red. Since each pack is the same color, I couldn’t have them all, so which did I want the most?

After much deliberation, I selected yet another color–the red/orange striped package–so now I have two real show-stoppers plus three neutrals.

And, boy, do I love them all. Not only are they reusable, they suit my style and my eco-agenda. Each sturdy, rip-stop nylon bag holds the contents of two to three regular grocery bags. I feel so cool when I go into the bakery and whip my pretty bag out of its carrying pouch (whatever my color choice of the day may be) and place the bread in it. And now it’s on to the Farmer’s Market for fresh fruit and veggies.

Not only do I now sport a European flair, I’m doing my part for the environment too. With no more plastic to clog our dumps, I stroll around the shopping center head held high.

Now aren’t I quite the stylish “little old lady?” I think I’ll tell Maxine–of cartoon fame–about these. I’m sure her friends will soon be hitting the malls in all their colorful glory … an army of women, carrying rainbows over their shoulders.

Okay, a little pricey
These are a little pricey. I ended up finding even better ones on sale at Vons. These ones come with a separate pouch to store them in, which I am likely to lose. The Vons ones fold into a pouch that is sewed onto the bag, have an elastic to wrap around to keep it tight, and have a clip so that I can attach it somewhere that I will be able to find it.

Photo on Amazon does not match what was received
While I love the quality of the bag, love what they stand for (no plastic bags!) and love the colors, I was disappointed that the product photo did not match what I received. The photo shows 5 bags rolled up into little self-pouches, with a larger pouch with draw-string closure. I wanted each individual bag to roll into its own little pouch like shown on the photo so I could toss one or two in my purse — and they’d stay self-contained. The bags that I received don’t roll into a self-pouch. Just 5 loosely folded bags in the larger pouch. I’ll return and order another product that fits my needs.

A chic way to be green
I really love these bags. They look great, come in great colors, are very sturdy and hold a lot. The carrying case make them easy to keep in my car so I can grab them before going into the store.

Green Shopping
I’d begun to hate those plastic bags so bought the 6 pack of these for carrying in the car. They are super and I feel good about not dirtying the environment and causing potential harm to animals.

Love These Bags
These bags are sturdy & easily hold my groceries. I have had several checkers comment on how nice they are & how much they hold. As soon as I get home from the grocery store I unpack the groceries, fold the bags, insert them into their cases & put them right back in my purse so I never leave home without them.

I adore these bags
These bags are fantastic! I’ve had them for about a year and they still look brand new despite being used weekly and scrunched up then shoved in a bag after each use.

It’s funny, but nearly every time I give these to the bagger in the store, they want to know where I got them saying how cute they are, how easy to fill unlike some bags they get from people, and how much they hold.

I’d say the main problems are remembering to put them back in the car after each trip to the market, remembering to take them into the store each time, convincing the baggers to put more in them that they would put in their own thin plastic bags, and the price – although if you look at the different colors, some are less expensive than others (clearing out the older colors?). Still I’m really glad I have them and have several sets with some in my purse for random purchases and enough to shop for a large family even with baggers who underfill them.

You’ll be happy you got these!

Great bag but
These are wonderful bags and I love them, we use them for other things, not just groceries, like book bags, bags for the kids to tote their toys around in, they are very versitile.On the down side, these have separate storage sacks that are hard to keep track of, other bags have storage sacks attached on to the bag which is more convenient. Other than that, these are wonderful bags, and they can hold much more than traditional plastic bags, also the handles are nice and long so you can tie them if you need to keep items securly inside while transporting.

Good cooling, low noise. Watch out for space.
This Zalman “flower” aluminum cpu cooler was used to replace a small low-noise Nexus cpu cooler, which had become insufficient. The Zalman is much larger, has a big fan, and this allows it to run slower while providing plenty of cooling. Running slower means it is less noisy. My computer remains nice and cool. Because the fan is wider than the cpu, it cools the surrounding components as well, which is a plus.

Installation was a bit tricky, I had to remove the board from the case to replace the bracket with the one that comes with the Zalman. Not a big deal if you’re not afraid of taking your computer apart.

It also comes with a wired remote control to adjust the speed of the fan, but I was too lazy to install it and run the wire to the front. Instead, I use the SpeedFan utility, which starts when I start the computer, and lower the fan to 50%. In retrospect, I should have spent the extra time to run the wire. Live and learn.

Great buy, I recommend it. Make sure it fits in your case, or course.

My Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz gets about 8-10 C degrees down when used with Arctic Silver 5.

Keeping kids growing!
My 6 year old grand-daughter is way ahead of the curve! I wanted a book for her to read that would pique her interest and keep her smiling. This is the one to do it. Learning big words and what they mean keeps her growing mentally and looking for more. Great book!

Cute–but be careful if diversity is an issue. .
We bought this book for a precocious little 3 year old friend. It was just right, except that his parents are gay, and there are references to “When Dad buys me shoes. . ” or “When Mom takes me to the store. . “

Families come in all shapes, sizes and forms, and we forget sometimes that “Mom and Dad” aren’t paired parental titles in all families.

Divorced families might present the same dilemma in giving a kid this book. I’d have thought that Jamie Lee Curtis would have been a bit more socially conscious.

Big Words is a big hit!
Another great book by Jamie Leigh Curtis and her illustrator Laura Cornell. I am a Childrens librarian, and enjoy reading ALL of her books to the children at story times! She really speaks to the children in a way they understand and enjoy.

Poor Strap but excellent case
This is an excellent case the for Nintendo DS Lite. I got two of them, one for each of my kids. The case is rigid, and looks to be very capable of protecting the DS. My son has dropped his several times, and there has been no damage to the DS. It has a net area (like one finds in the trunk of some cars) that holds about 4 DS cartridges inside the lid of the case. The DS fits snugly. There is a handy carabineer that can be used to attach the case to a backpack or belt loop.

There are two problems with the case.

The first one is that the strap on my son’s case separated immediately. The strap is made of fairly soft plastic, and what happened was that it stretched and allowed it to fall off of the metal part holding it to the case – so one side parted and the strap was useless. I put the strap back on, but the first time it was used it came off again. I just removed it altogether.

The second problem is that the “net” area is somewhat loose, and you have to be careful to make sure the DS cartridges don’t fall out when opening and closing the case.

Despite these drawbacks, I rate the case as 5 stars – it is such a great design for protecting the DS.

My DS Lite
When I ordered the DS lite the first one did not work. I was so amazed at Amazon that they sent a second one prior to getting the first one back. I had it in my hand in two days. The second DS Lite works extremely well. The service is amazing.

Poor Strap but excellent case
This is an excellent case the for Nintendo DS Lite. I got two of them, one for each of my kids. The case is rigid, and looks to be very capable of protecting the DS. My son has dropped his several times, and there has been no damage to the DS. It has a net area (like one finds in the trunk of some cars) that holds about 4 DS cartridges inside the lid of the case. The DS fits snugly. There is a handy carabineer that can be used to attach the case to a backpack or belt loop.

There are two problems with the case.

The first one is that the strap on my son’s case separated immediately. The strap is made of fairly soft plastic, and what happened was that it stretched and allowed it to fall off of the metal part holding it to the case – so one side parted and the strap was useless. I put the strap back on, but the first time it was used it came off again. I just removed it altogether.

The second problem is that the “net” area is somewhat loose, and you have to be careful to make sure the DS cartridges don’t fall out when opening and closing the case.

Despite these drawbacks, I rate the case as 5 stars – it is such a great design for protecting the DS.

My DS Lite
When I ordered the DS lite the first one did not work. I was so amazed at Amazon that they sent a second one prior to getting the first one back. I had it in my hand in two days. The second DS Lite works extremely well. The service is amazing.

Really smooth
This is a very good heat sink. It’s a little bit big but if you have a mid tower case you should not have problems installing it in your system. My CPU (AMD Athlon 64 bit 3.0 GHz 6000+) runs around 45 degrees Celsius without load and around 65 degrees under full load. According to fan speed the rpm is 2660 RPM!!. One more thing. Remember that i don’t have ac in my room!!

If you where wondering if you can connect to CPU directly to the Mobo instead of connecting it to the speed controller well guess what you can.

Works well but not exactly whisper quiet.
I think this does a better job then the stock cooler, as it directs the heated air out the back of the case. One of the easier ones to install, took all of 5 min. One down side for me is the fan, while quiet, is not totally silent. But then I expect my PC to make no noise at all when it is running. Probably not the best choice for a HTPC. I think the price is a bit on the high side also.

Great CPU Cooler
Works Great. nice design, well built. Keeps CPU around 44-50C at full load. Install was very simple, just one clip that easily attaches to cpu mount on motherboard. Pretty big though, so I wouldnt recomend it to anyone without at least mid-size case.

Another great work by Gaiman
While I am a huge fan of Neil Gaiman’s writing, I started this book with no little trepidation. The Jungle Book means a lot to me, in more ways than I can explain here, so I didn’t want to see it disparaged or overshadowed. I need not have worried. Gaiman created a wonderful and completely unique story that is simply excellent in all the ways that The Jungle Book is excellent.
This book is accessible enough for preteens, but anyone would enjoy it.

Excellent story – more please!!
The Graveyard Book Neil Gaiman included a chapter of this story in “M for Magic” and I loved it, so I was delighted to discover that Gaiman would be doing a whole novel centred around Bod. This is a entertaining, gripping and thoroughly enjoyable story that left me wanting more (and luckily it’s open-ended enough for a sequel). Gaiman displays his usual magic in weaving the narrative together and creating memorable and interesting characters.

Go buy it now…you will not be sorry
The Graveyard Book is Neil Gaiman’s second entry into the young adult arena. The first novel was Coraline and that is being made into an upcoming movie. The book follows the adventures of Nobody Owens also known as Bod (think I would have stayed with Nobody). His parents meet an unfortunate fate that forces Nobody to live the neighborhood graveyard. Nobody is raised by ghosts, Mr. & Mrs. Owens, and a caretaker, Silas.

Dust Jacket Summary: Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy.

He would be completely normal if he didn’t live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

What I liked: Easy answer, everything. This is a book that will sneak up on you. It will start out simple in the beginning but by the end you are deeply involved with the characters. Neil Gaiman also accomplishes what few authors can. His young Nobody acts and sounds like kid and as he grows, the character changes to match his maturity. The side characters are also well thought out and add much to the story.

What I didn’t like: I wish the book was longer. Some of the side characters, like Silas, have an interesting back story that is never fully explored. One can always hope for a sequel.

Last word: Don’t be put off by the Young Adult tag. Go buy it now, you will not be sorry.

GREAT shoes … don’t get the imitations!
My 6-month-old is the Houdini of socks — she always manages to get them off her feet. My cousin told me about Robeez (she’s got an 8-month-old) and I was hesitant to buy them because of the price. I mean $30 on average for shoes for a baby that doesn’t even walk?

So, I went to Target and bought these Ministar shoes designed by Bobux. I thought I got a good deal, since they were designed like the Robeez shoes and were priced at $12.99! I bought them in the 6-12 month size, which did not stay on her feet. So, I returned them for the 0-6 month size, thinking they’d be a bit tighter and would stay on. Nope.

So, I returned those at well, and I bought these in the 6-12 month size because I could not resist the sale price, under $10! And they really work! They stay on my daughter’s feet, even when she sits on her bouncer and kicks her legs endlessly to her Baby Einstein DVDs! Well, worth the money and I totally got them at a price lower than the cheap ones I got from Target! I love these shoes — they help keep her socks on and they stay on as well. I’m a Robeez convert — and Amazon is a great way to bargain hunt!

great shoes for infant, great slippers for toddlers but a note for the frugal shopper
I loved these shoes for my infant twins–they stayed on their feet and they wore them alot. Now that they’re two, these seem to be the only slippers they’ll keep on their feet(most of the time). The variety of colors and styles is nice, but if they aren’t on sale($20 or less), we found that the ones from Target and some other national chains hold up pretty well too, and often for about half the price. Robeez still offers way more selection, but if price is a concern…Target may be your best bet. (I believe they retail for $15 there and are sometimes on sale for $10)

Adorable shoes!
These are great shoes and so cute. They stay on well and are perfect for the winter months!

Good quality
I was really pleased with the quality of these slippers. I had bought a cheaper pair from Target and the Robeez really have outlasted the other brand. They also provide better support and cushioning. They are a must have for babies learning to walk!
